Utah Valley's Tyler Hendricks goes up for a shot against Bowling Green in a men's college basketball game in Bowling Green, Ohio., on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025.BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Four Wolverines scored in double figures, led by 19 from Jackson Holcombe, 18 from Isaac Davis, and an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double from Tyler Hendricks as Utah Valley rolled to an 82-71 win over the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday.
Hendricks’ double-double is the second of his career, and the 11 boards are a career high. Davis’ 18 points matched a career high set earlier this season against UC Irvine in Orem. Hayden Welling led the bench effort with 10 points.
The win for the Wolverines is another early-season resumé-booster, as the Falcons came into Saturday with a NET ranking of 59 — the highest-ranked team Utah Valley has faced thus far — and were coming off a double-digit win at Kansas State on Monday.
Utah Valley kept Bowling Green uncomfortable all afternoon, forcing the Falcons into a season-high 20 turnovers. The Wolverines turned that into an 18-9 advantage in fastbreak points.
After trading buckets early, the Falcons held an 8-7 lead at the 16:25 mark. Utah Valley rolled to a 12-5 run over the next five minutes to take a 19-13 lead the Wolverines would never relinquish.
Utah Valley pushed the lead up to seven at the intermission at 38-31, aided in part by a pair of treys from Sherman Weatherspoon IV and seven points from Welling. The Wolverine bench outscored the Falcon bench 15-2 in the first half.
Davis came alive in the second half, scoring 16 of his 18 points on an efficient 6-of-7 from the field. The Wolverines pushed the lead to as many as 26 before the Falcons made a late push in the final two minutes.
Utah Valley returns home to kick off a five-game stretch in Utah, beginning with a visit from the Idaho State Bengals on Wednesday at the UCCU Center. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT, and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the Wolverine Sports Network.
Women’s volleyball win first set but Stanford comes back for NCAA victory
STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 seed Stanford defeated Utah Valley 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-14) on Friday night at Maples Pavilion in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Wolverines, a huge underdog, won the first set 25-21, marking UVU’s — and the WAC’s — first set won in the NCAA Tournament since 2021, when Utah Valley took a set off Utah in Provo.
The Cardinal responded by winning the next three sets to move to the second round, but the Wolverines definitely got their attention with the first-set win.
Avery Page led UVU with 12 kills, 10 digs, and three blocks. Bountiful native Jordyn Harvey paced Stanford (28-4) with 14 kills as the Cardinal finished with three players in double-figure kills.
The Wolverines opened the first set with back-to-back service aces from Sami Blackett, taking a 2-0 lead before Bella Wooden and Olivia Gloeckner combined for a block on Erika Sayer to go up 3-0. UVU maintained early momentum, pushing ahead 9-5 after an attack error and a kill from Wooden. Stanford later tied the set, but a 4-0 Utah Valley run–highlighted by a block assist from Blackett and Wooden–put the Wolverines ahead 13-9. UVU extended the lead to 20-16 on a block by Alyvia Jaffa and Evalyn Chism. Wooden’s ace, the team’s fourth of the set, secured the opener for the Wolverines.
The loss ends Utah Valley’s season at 16-11, capping one of the program’s strongest campaigns in recent years. The Wolverines reached their third NCAA Tournament, secured their first regular-season WAC title and won their third WAC Tournament championship in their final season in the conference before moving to the Big West in 2026.
Women’s basketball loses at home to Air Force
Utah Valley fell to Air Force, 58-50, on Saturday afternoon at the UCCU Center.
Tessa Chaney led UVU (5-3) with her first double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Amanda Barcello added 17 points. Milahnie Perry paced Air Force (5-4) with a game-high 24 points.
Utah Valley took a 46-44 lead to open the fourth quarter on a Kylee Mabry layup and went back in front later on a jumper by Barcello with 7:57 remaining. The Wolverines then went scoreless for more than five minutes as Air Force used an 11-0 run to pull away and secure the victory.
Utah Valley will play its final nonconference road game when it travels to Kansas City on Saturday, Dec. 13, for a noon MT tip at the Swinney Center against the Roos. They will return home for La Sierra on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. MT.
Evans, Drury lead Wolverines wrestling efforts in Nevada
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Utah Valley’s David Evans placed sixth while Haiden Drury finished seventh at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday at the Westgate Hotel Paradise Convention Center.
Both wrestlers went 1-1 on Saturday, with medical forfeits affecting both Wolverine wrestlers. Evans took a medical forfeit in the consolation semifinals after defeating South Dakota State’s 24th-ranked Alek Martin in his first match. Drury was the beneficiary of a medical forfeit from Cal Poly’s fifth-ranked Zeth Romney in the seventh-place match.
“Overall, we had a mixed weekend of results. I’m proud of David and Haiden after dropping tough quarterfinal matches and managing adversity to come back and place at the toughest in-season tournament of the year,” head coach Adam Hall said. “Our team as a whole has a lot of growth left and Cliff Keen exposed fundamentals that we have been preaching to and practicing with our guys. I look forward to the next week of work as we prepare for Chattanooga and Iowa.” Up next for Utah Valley is the Uncivil War where they’ll compete in duals against Chattanooga and No. 4 Iowa at Hannibal High School in Hannibal, Missouri.
