Bach named Preseason All-WAC, UVU baseball picked sixth

UVU players celebrate after the WAC game against UT Arlington at UCCU Ballpark in Orem on Sunday, April 21, 2024.The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced its annual preseason baseball awards on Wednesday afternoon. Utah Valley outfielder Nate Bach was named to the Preseason All-WAC team.
Bach had a career year in 2024, setting new career highs in average (.286), runs (42), hits (61), doubles (8), homers (14), and RBIs (53). For his performance against Utah and Utah Tech, he was named TicketSmarter WAC Hitter of the Week. He finished the week hitting .500 (7-for-14) with two homers.
Against WAC foe Stephen F. Austin, he set himself into the record books with two inside-the-park home runs and finished the weekend with a total of four blasts. Bach finished tied for the team-high in RBIs.
The Wolverines were picked sixth in the conference’s annual coaches poll. Grand Canyon was picked to win the conference with eight first-place votes and 64 total points. Abilene Christian picked up the other first-place vote and came in second, with California Baptist, Tarleton State, and Sacramento State picked third through fifth place. UT Arlington, Seattle U, and Utah Tech finished below UVU.
CBU’s Nick Dumesnil was picked as the 2025 WAC Preseason Player of the Year, and Brett Lanman was named Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
