Tyler Hendricks scored a game-high 22 points and Jackson Holcombe and Trevan Leonhardt each recorded double-doubles to lead Utah Valley to a 91-60 win over Westminster on Wednesday night at the UCCU Center.

The win pushes Utah Valley’s record to 2-1 on the season. The Wolverines now head back out on the road to play at Fresno State on Saturday.

Leonhardt knocked down a three and Braden Housley scored four quick points to help UVU jump out to a 15-5 lead through the first 4:23 of the game. The Griffins answered with a 16-6 run over the next 5:44 to tie it, 21-21, with 9:54 to play in the half. Westminster then took its first lead of the night, 24-23, on a Cole Kadoguchi three at the 8:16 mark.

Holcombe responded with a jumper, followed by a pair of Housley free throws and a Hendricks three to spark a 15-2 Wolverine run over a five-minute stretch that put UVU in front 38-26 with 3:18 remaining. Utah

Valley then outscored Westminster 5-3 over the final three minutes of the half to take a 43-29 lead into the break.

Utah Valley opened the second half on a 16-4 run over the first 4:17, capped by an alley-oop dunk from Leonhardt to Hendricks, to extend its lead to 26 points, 59-33, with 16:07 to play. Westminster used a 10-4 spurt to trim the deficit to 20, 63-43, with 11:49 remaining, but UVU responded with a 9-3 push to go back up 72-46 with 7:08 left. The teams played even over the next four minutes as the Wolverines maintained a 26-point cushion, 84-58, with 3:43 to go. UVU then closed the game on a 7-2 run to secure the 91-60 victory.

Hendricks scored his 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, including a 4-of-6 clip from long range. He went 4-of-5 at the foul line, while adding four rebounds and a steal.

Holcombe recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double, going 6-of-9 from the floor. He added four blocks, three assists and two steals. Leonhardt finished with an 11-point, career-high 13-assist double-double and nearly posted a triple-double, pulling down seven rebounds.

Isaac Davis also finished in double figures with 14 points, while Housley added 12.

As a team, Utah Valley shot 59.3 percent (32-of-54) from the field and 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from beyond the arc. Westminster shot 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the floor and 36 percent (9-of-25) from three.

Utah Valley outrebounded the Griffins 33-32 and dominated the paint with a 48-16 scoring advantage inside.

The Wolverines will now travel to the Golden State to take on Mountain West foe Fresno State on Saturday at the Save Mart Center. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and over the airwaves on ESPN The Fan (960 AM/103.9 FM/98.3 FM).
