Webber signs with Denver Summit FC

DENVER — Utah Valley University standout Faith Webber has signed her first professional contract with Denver Summit FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), becoming the latest Wolverine to join the professional ranks.

Webber joins Summit FC as the expansion franchise prepares for its inaugural 2026 campaign, marking the NWSL’s arrival in Denver and adding a prolific attacking piece to the club’s first roster.

A graduate forward from Grand Blanc, Michigan, Webber capped one of the most decorated careers in program history this past fall. She led Utah Valley to its fourth straight WAC regular-season championship and an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament, where the Wolverines fell 2-1 in overtime at nationally ranked No. 12 Colorado.

Over four seasons, Webber rewrote the Utah Valley record book. She departs as the program’s all-time leader in goals (70), points (157), shots (440), shots on goal (223) and game-winning goals (20). She also holds UVU single season records in goals (22), points (48), shots (150), shots per game (6.82) and shots on goal (69), and finished her career with three hat tricks, including a four-minute natural hat trick as part of her five-goal outing.

“We are so proud of Faith, what she has accomplished in her years with us is remarkable,” Utah Valley head coach Chris Lemay said. “Denver is getting a clinical finisher. If given even half a look she can finish at any level. She will have a lot of fans cheering her on and supporting Summit FC from Utah as she continues to play in the NWSL. We wish Faith all the best and know that she will do it her way.”

Webber becomes the latest Wolverine to reach the professional ranks, continuing a growing development pipeline for Utah Valley women’s soccer. Heather Stainbrook (2019-23) will begin her third season with the Washington Spirit in the NWSL, Jaylyn Wright (2023-24) will start her second season with Vancouver Rise FC and Idalia Serrano (2022-23) enters her third season with AS Volos 2004 in Greece.

Denver Summit FC will begin NWSL play in 2026. The club opens the 2026 season on March 14 at Bay FC.

Wrestling drops matches to ranked Missouri, South Dakota State

Utah Valley University picked up ranked wins for the second consecutive night from Jack Forbes and No. 12 David Evans, but the Wolverines fell to No. 19 Missouri, 31-9, on Saturday at Lockhart Arena.

No. 19 Haiden Drury also earned a ranked victory for Utah Valley (3-6, 1-3 Big 12), but Missouri (8-6, 2-1 Big 12) pulled away with five consecutive bonus-point wins to secure the dual. “We wrestled a very good team tonight,” UVU head coach Adam Hall said. “We were outclassed in several areas. We spent a lot time with our team digesting the lessons from tonight so we can have closure and move forward to an even bigger challenge next week at Oklahoma State. I’m happy for Jack earning a second-straight ranked win, one that he got redemption from last year. I’m happy for David and Haiden earning gritty wins. We will be ready to fight on Monday and set the tone for the rest of the week.”

On Friday, the Wolverines fell just short of an upset of No. 10 South Dakota State, dropping a 19-16 decision to the Jackrabbits at Lockhart Arena. UVU wrestlers Geronimo Rivera (133 pounds), Haiden Drury (141), David Evans (149), Caleb Uhlenhopp (184) and heavyweight Jack Forbes all earned victories.

Utah Valley next travels to No. 5 Oklahoma State on Sunday, Jan. 25, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. CST (1 p.m. MST).

Starting at $4.32/week.
