Hiking up Bridal Veil Falls in Provo

I think it is cool to hike Bridal Veil Falls. I hiked it 2 weeks ago with my family. We walked along the sidewalk that they had there and we found a good place to have a picnic on the grass. There are picnic tables but the tables were all taken. But we had a good lunch sitting in the grass.

We also took some pictures of us standing in groups of trees. Then we hiked up to the bridge and looked for some rocks in the water. We found some rocks that looked like arrowheads.

When we were looking for rocks the water was freezing. We also saw some people wading in the pools of water. We had fun playing in the water, but then my hands got numb.

We saw some people on the trail to the first cataract. Did you know that the falls are 607 feet tall? There are actually two waterfalls that connect to make a big waterfall.

There was a tramway that went to the top of the falls along time ago. There used to be a restaurant on top of the falls. An avalanche hit the tramway in 1996 and broke it and it was not rebuilt. This was actually the second avalanche to hit the tramway. In July 2008 a fire started at the ruins and the ruins were burned down. In August 2008 the line was cut down. I wanted to hike up to the burned down gondola but my family was tired and wanted to go back home.

There used to be train tracks where the Heber Creeper tourist train went by the falls. When the train discontinued service past the falls the tracks were taken out and replaced by a recreational trail. Many people use the trail in different ways like walking, running, cycling and roller blading. It can get really busy on the hot summer days because people like the cold water and they are trying to beat the heat.

I would like to go back to the falls with my family. I would also like to wade in the water and hike to the first cataract. I want to hike to the top of the falls to see the burned down gondola.

Starting at $4.32/week.
