Tips for a fun time swimming
Which sport is better football or swimming? In my opinion swimming is the better sport. The reasons why I think are. You don’t get hurt in swimming but in football you do. I know somebody that got brain damage from playing football. It is real hard to get hurt when swimming. People get more injuries in football then in swimming.
My second reason is that football isn’t even that fun to play because you tackle and be tackled. That is not fun; people can break bones from doing that. Swimming is simple all you do is swim. The only way you can get hurt while swimming is if you drown, which is not easy to do.
My third and last reason is swimming is just plain out fun. You can do back strokes and side strokes. There is barely anything fun you can do in football. All you do in football is run around, tackle, and be tackled.
Let’s talk about water sports now because that sounds fun. Swimming is a water sport (no duh). Swimming is a fun way to exercise; it doesn’t even feel like exercising. They make water parks and swim a lot in those places. They have water slides that aren’t swimming but still pretty fun. Lazy rivers are a fun way to relax in water. You just let the slow moving water push you along. Professional swimming is exercise. You have to practice and practice then compete. Doesn’t sound that fun right? It could still be fun to do though. You are the one who gets to decide whether it’s fun or not. So why not try.
Some places that I think are fun water sports have a fair amount of people go to. 7 Peaks Water Park has a lot of fun water things to do for those hot summer days. The slides are fun to do but have long lines (patience young one). But once you get to the slide it’s worth it. Some slides that are cool are… The Vortex a.k.a Toilet bowl is fun and fairly fast. You go down and go around in circles until you go down the hole. The Boomerang is like a skateboarder’s half pipe. You go up and down fast until you slow down at the end. The freefalls are a fun and scary slide. You fall straight down that is also where it got its name. I have heard from people that it hurts your back when you go down.
The Legacy Center in Lehi is one of the fun local things for people they live in the community. The things they have for swimming and getting wet are fun. They have a pool that is for the smaller kid’s that has a small play ground. It has a small slide and little water guns. It has a big bucket at the top that fills up with water and dumps on every one beneath it. It has one of those regular pools that go from one height to the other. What’s cool is that they have a slide that goes in and out of the building. The infants and the toddlers have their own little pool that has slides and swings.
Splash pads are another fun way to get wet. The splash pad located in Orem at the River woods has a fun umbrella. The umbrella has water that falls over the top and comes down like it is raining. Water shoots out of the ground just like every other splash pad does. The alpine splash pad has a little waterfall that drains into a little ankle deep river thing. The river has rocks that shoot out water. It is so shallow little kids can play in it.
Some tips I have for when you go out with your family to swim are…
Keep a good eye on your little ones if you are at a busy place. They could drown if you are not careful. Wear sunscreen so you don’t get sunburns (spf 50 or 100). If you have a younger child I would suggest buying a life jacket.
If you take my advice you will have a fun and safe summer.
