BYU gymnastics moving on in NCAA Tournament

The BYU women's gymnastics team defeated Utah State to advance in the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday, April 3, 2025.SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Cougars beat the Aggies 195.950-194.475 in the play-in meet for the NCAA Utah Gymnastics Regional on Wednesday.
With today’s win, BYU will compete tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. MT against Utah, Denver and Stanford at the Huntsman Center.
The Cougars opened their NCAA tournament run on vault. NCAA individual qualifiers Deb Silva and Kylie Eaquinto led the cougars with a 9.8 and 9.825, respectively. After missing several meets, Ava Jorgensen anchored for BYU with a 9.825, tying her season high on the apparatus. Eaquinto has now scored a 9.8 or higher on vault for nine consecutive meets.
The Aggies and Cougars were tied after the first rotation with team scores of 48.950.
Freshman Addilyn Glazier started strong on bars with a 9.825, followed by Eaquinto’s second 9.825 of the day. With their second event total of 48.950, the Cougars pulled ahead of Utah State 97.900-97.775.
Sophomore Chloee Hoke tied her career high with a 9.850 on the balance beam in the third rotation. With three 9.775’s from Eliza Millar-Crossman, Mina Margraf-Benson and Deb Silva and a meet-high 9.9 from Brynlee Andersen, the Cougars earned a beam score of 49.075.
Heading into the final rotation, the Cougars led 146.975-195725.
The Cougars opened their floor rotation with a pair of 9.8’s from seniors Olivia Matern and Dudley. Heidi Schooley-Meyers added a 9.850, followed by Eaquinto’s 9.875 for a final floor score of 48.975 to secure the win for the Cougars.
BYU will be back at the Huntsman Center tomorrow evening to compete against Utah, Denver and Stanford at 7 p.m. MT. The competition will be broadcast on ESPN+.
