The full Utah Valley calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1. 1964: THE BEATLES TRIBUTE

SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, Orem, Sept. 1, 7 p.m.

Rewind 60 years to a time when a group of young musicians from the United Kingdom were taking the world by storm. The SCERA website says, “Since the early eighties, 1964 The Tribute has been thrilling audiences around the globe by taking them on journey through a quintessential moment in music history that will live forever. Over twenty years of researching and performing have made 1964 masters of their craft. They are hailed by critics and fans alike as THE most authentic and endearing Beatles tribute … which has earned them the distinction from Rolling Stone magazine as the “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth.” 1964 recreates an early ’60s live Beatle concert with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles, and onstage banter with an accuracy that is unmatched.”

In addition to the concert, there will be Orem Express miniature train rides, fireworks afterwards and The Great Pottery Throwdown will also be taking place at Scera Park.

3. Golden Onion Days

Payson Memorial Park, Payson, Aug. 30-Sept. 1

The summer festival season may be drawing to a close but there is still a chance to enjoy all the fun of a city celebration by heading south to Payson for Golden Onion Days. The city’s website says: “This annual celebration was first held in 1929 as an opportunity for residents and former residents to renew old friendships and make new ones. Originally known as the Onion Harvest and Homecoming, the event honored Payson’s status as an agricultural district and outstanding producer of onions. The celebration was later renamed Payson City Golden Onion Days, and that is the name that remains to this day. Golden Onion Days is typically held each year on Labor Day weekend and includes events such as concerts, carnival, baby contest, car show, 5K and 10K races, parade, fireworks, food, and merchandise vendors.”
