Utah Valley University is facing backlash from state leaders who say the institution made a "tone-deaf" decision in its choice of commencement speaker following the assassination of Charlie Kirk on campus last year. UVU invited Sharon McMahon, a civics educator and self-described "America's Government Teacher" to speak at the April 29 commencement ceremony.
