'An historic day:' BYU School of Medicine receives preliminary accreditation, to begin recruiting inaugural class
Brigham Young University's School of Medicine has received preliminary accreditation, President Shane Reese announced Wednesday. Reese said the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, or LCME, voted to grant BYU preliminary accredication status at its October 2026 meeting. The university is now permitted to begin accepting applications from students in the coming weeks, and is slated to launch its MD program in July 2027.
