Instructure, Inc. set to acquire student network Portfolium
Instructure, Inc., a software-as-a-service technology company based in Salt Lake City that “helps people learn and develop from their first day of school to their last day of work,” announced on Feb. 19 that it has plans to acquire Portfolium, a student success network that showcases student achievements, projects and competencies to potential employers.
Portfolium as a company helps institutions showcase student achievements via its ePortfolio network, student-centered assessment, job matching capabilities and academic and co-curricular pathways.
“We’ve been a proud Instructure partner for years, and are excited to expand on our vision to support lifelong learning and development as part of the Instructure family,” said Adam Markowitz, fouder and CEO of Portfolium.
Home Builders Association names new president
The Utah Valley Home Builders Association recently named Shane Harr the new president of the association. Harr is the owner of Purehaven Homes, a 13-year-old company that builds luxury custom homes in Salt Lake, Utah and Wasatch counties.
Harr first began his career in Las Vegas with Pennsylvania-based home construction company Toll Brothers before moving to Utah in 2006 and starting Purehaven Homes.
“I’m excited to be a part of an association whose members take trades seriously and are wonderful craftsmen,” Harr said. “We had a great year last year as an organization; I hope to make it even better this upcoming year.”
Harr replaces Casey Cloward of Raykon Construction. The home builders association recently voted Cloward Builder of the Year.
Harr, Cloward and Jeff Southard of South Haven Homes are currently building the tenth Cougar House in Elk Ridge. According to a press release from the home builders association, members of the association donate their time, labor and supplies to build each Cougar House. The homes are then sold, and the proceeds go to benefit current and future student-athletes involved in construction management majors at Brigham Young University.
