Evan Ray has been appointed to lead HCA Healthcare‘s Mountain Division, overseeing hospital operations in Utah, Idaho and Alaska.

MountainStar Healthcare has a new president to preside over the Utah-based network.

Evan Ray took over HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division on Monday. His job will encompass eight MountainStar hospitals from Logan to Payson as well as sister facilities in Idaho and Alaska. He replaces Greg Angle, who retired earlier this year, according to a press release issued by MountainStar Healthcare.

MountainStar has over 100 sites, including Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, and serves nearly 1.5 million patients yearly.

“It’s an exciting time to continue my career in beautiful Utah and to serve some of the fastest growing communities in our nation,” Ray said. “I look forward to working with our 9,000 Mountain Division colleagues to bring the quality of care to more Utahns, Idahoans and Alaskans.”

Ray has served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division, in which he was responsible for multiple hospitals in South Texas. During his five years there, the division experienced substantial growth by advancing capabilities and improving access, according to MountainStar. Prior to that role, he served as a health care executive in Alabama, Iowa and South Carolina.
