Andrew Zenger replaces Austin Manning, who recently vacated the role after 2 ½ years for a leadership position at a medical center in California.
Zenger returns to Timpanogos Regional after serving at sister facility St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City as its chief operating officer.
His tenure with parent health system HCA Healthcare spans 11 years, beginning in 2014 when Zenger served as an administrative intern at the same hospital he now takes the leadership reins at.
“I’m thrilled to return to Timpanogos Regional Hospital, the place where I began my career and discovered my passion for healthcare,” he told the Daily Herald in a statement. “This hospital has always been special to me–not only as the starting point of my professional journey, but also as the place my own family has chosen for care.”
While at St. Marks, Zenger was instrumental in enhancing the hospital’s robotic surgery capabilities, achieving record surgical volumes and growing its electrophysiology program, according to a MountainStar Healthcare press release.
Prior to that, Zenger served as COO at HCA Healthcare’s Medical City McKinney Hospital in Texas. During that time, he led surgery and cardiovascular programs, helped achieve a Level II trauma designation and managed significant capital projects, the release stated.
In addition to his medical experience, Zenger earned his bachelor’s degree in business management and strategy from Brigham Young University. He went on to obtain his Master of Health Administration degree at Trinity University in Texas.
Evan Ray, president of HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division, said Zenger’s track record signals a mission-driven leader with a desire to find more ways to provide health care for patients.
“Everywhere he’s gone, he has empowered our colleagues, advocated for patients, collaborated with physicians, and served our communities,” Ray said.
Since opening its doors in 1998, Timpanogos Regional Hospital has provided care to tens of thousands of Utahns annually. In 2024 alone, the hospital treated patients in over 24,000 emergency room visits, 4,400 inpatient admissions, 13,900 surgical procedures and nearly 1,800 births.
The facility has also received national recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has been named one of the nation’s 100 top hospitals by Premier in two of the past three years, according to MountainStar Healthcare.
Zenger says it’s an exciting time to be a part of Timpanogos Regional, as the hospital eyes growth and enhancement of its services to care for more families.
“Timpanogos has a proud legacy of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. I’m committed to building on that legacy as we continue to grow and expand our capabilities to serve more families in Utah County,” he said.
Zenger begins his new role at Timpanogos Regional on Monday.
