Selected over two other finalists in a vote by the chamber’s ambassadors, Point of the Mountain President Marcee Gundry acknowledged the paper’s involvement as a reason for the accolade.
“The Daily Herald has been a part of our community, of our chamber for quite a while, and (Daily Herald Account Executive) Dave (Galeria) works with us on our ambassador committee and does a lot of great work,” Gundry said.
Founded in 1873, originally as the Provo Daily Times, the Daily Herald publishes six days a week, Monday through Saturday, and focuses on news, sports and events coverage within Utah County. Its office is located within the Provo Towne Centre Mall.
The Daily Herald also produces the chamber’s magazine, which includes information about upcoming chamber events, including the Lehi Rodeo and Saratoga Springs Splash Days.
“People wait for (the magazine) and get excited to be able to see what’s happening. So we’re excited to be able to partner with (the Daily Herald) on those things,” Gundry said.
The Point of the Mountain Chamber of Commerce is a regional chamber that focuses primarily on northern Utah County and strives to help local business through connection, growth, advocacy and education, Gundry said.
“We have at least four different events a month that businesses can come out to,” she said. “It’s about providing them an opportunity to network with other business and local leaders or to be able to get education through us.”
