The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 4WD Bison Edition roared into our driveway for the Fourth of July weekend, offering an awesome combination of power, capability and ruggedness. Built to conquer any terrain, this beastly pickup truck is ready to take on the toughest challenges the Mountain West has to offer while exuding a commanding presence on the road and offering a luxurious interior design.

With its distinctive design, off-road prowess and a host of impressive features, the Silverado ZR2 Bison Edition aims to redefine what a pickup truck can be and where it can go! We loved the fact that it came over the holiday weekend as Craig was able to get some time behind the wheel with an 8,000-pound trailer attached.

Having to produce sound for the many bands performing at Freedom Days during the annual Freedom Festival in Provo proved to be a great opportunity to pull his large trailer filled with sound gear over to Provo to get ready for the event.

The Silverado performed exquisitely well with a large trailer behind it, and Craig loved the way it would display a video image from the front of the truck to the rear of the trailer when making a turn on the huge infotainment screen, making it easy to know if there was another vehicle on the side or any kind of obstacle that might be an issue when trailering and turning.

On top of that, when he was hooking up the trailer, there is a camera that literally looks straight down on the hitch, allowing him to get right under the trailer and land it on the hitch with just one try, saving time and the effort of getting in and out of the truck numerous times to get it positioned correctly.

Underneath the imposing exterior lies a true powerhouse. The 2023 Silverado ZR2 Bison Edition is equipped with a potent 6.2-liter V-8 engine that unleashes a huge amount of get-up-and-go featuring 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the truck effortlessly accelerates and delivers exhilarating performance on both highways and off-road trails.

With a trailer attached, it acted as if it were not even there, only letting Craig know by displaying his turns on the infotainment screen and alluding to the fact that his gas mileage had dropped to 6 mpg with it attached.

What really sets the ZR2 Bison Edition apart is its exceptional off-road capability. Featuring an upgraded suspension with Multimatic DSSV dampers, front- and rear-locking differentials, skid plates, a factory-installed lift kit and specialized off-road tires, this truck is engineered to tackle the harshest terrains with confidence and precision.

We only wished that we would have had more time to get up into the mountains and enjoy the extra four-wheel drive capabilities of the ZR2. But with the holiday, things just didn’t line up for us. We did, however, get the chance to set up a sound system in the back of the truck for our neighborhood’s annual fireworks display, and with the extra height of the truck, it made for the perfect place for speakers to sit!

The Silverado ZR2 Bison Edition showcases an aggressive and muscular stance that demands attention and had everyone asking us questions about it. Its bold front grille, unique Bison decals and prominent wheel arches give it an unmistakable presence on the road. The Chevrolet Infotainment System, complete with a vibrant, large 13.4-inch touch screen display, provided seamless integration with our smartphone via wireless Apple CarPlay and offered access to a wide array of entertainment and navigation options.

With an array of advanced driver-assistance features like forward collision alert, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, you can navigate with peace of mind, knowing that you and your passengers are well protected.
