Over the past 15 or so years as we have been driving and reviewing vehicles, we have run the gamut from starter cars to super cars that have allowed us to experience many of the fun and exciting innovations that the automotive world has to offer. However, we always relish the chance to get into something new and different to the market.

So it was this week as we got into the all-new Lexus TX for a weeklong adventure that allowed us to explore the features, luxury, power and performance that define this luxury SUV.

Our introduction

Setting the stage for a weeklong adventure, we were greeted by the gleaming 2024 Lexus TX350 Premium as it made its debut in our driveway. The design, a harmonious blend of elegance and modernity, immediately caught our eyes. As Craig later noted, “The TX 350’s exterior radiated sophistication, setting the stage for what was sure to be a memorable week.”

As we settled into the deluxe interior, Deanne remarked: “The attention to detail is fantastic. From the genuine wood trim to the ambient lighting, Lexus has truly elevated the cabin experience of this SUV.”

Features that commanded attention

As we really are tech aficionados at heart, we decided to dedicate some time to exploring the myriad technological features of the TX 350. The 14-inch touch screen infotainment system takes center stage in the new SUV, boasting seamless integration with smartphones through wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Craig remarked, “The intuitive interface and responsive touch controls make the infotainment system a joy to use, really enhancing the overall driving experience.”

Deanne, was impressed by the safety technology, emphasizing the significance of the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert and a pre-collision system seamlessly integrated into our journey, showcasing Lexus’ commitment to passenger safety.

On top of this the new TX also comes with what Lexus is calling a Digital Key, allowing customers to utilize their cellphones equipped with the Lexus app as the key for the TX, both unlocking and starting the SUV. How cool is that? No more looking for lost keys — unless, of course, you’re prone to losing your cellphone.

Power and performance

Of course, we were eager to put the TX 350’s performance to the test, as it features a new and different powertrain for a vehicle of this size. This new TX comes equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.

On paper, it produced a very nice 275 horsepower and an impressive 317 pound-feet of torque. But how would it perform on the open road? If it turned out to be like what they did with the Tundra and Tacoma with smaller engines, we would have been surprised if it had not lived up to our expectations. We also managed a very nice 28 mpg for our week with the SUV.

“Smooth acceleration and precise handling made it clear that Lexus has prioritized performance in the TX 350,” Craig observed as we continued our time with the Lexus. It did live up to the new technology under the hood and never once disappointed us with a lack of acceleration or speed. It will be interesting to drive the F-Sport package sometime in the future of this new SUV.

Luxury beyond expectations

Over the years, we would have come to be automotive connoisseurs of a sort and have come to have a keen eye for luxury and what really makes a luxury auto; the TX 350 did not disappoint us. The leather-trimmed seats, heated and ventilated for maximum comfort, embraced us with cushion and support as we continued to explore each day with the new SUV.

“The attention to comfort is evident in every detail. Whether it’s the panoramic moonroof or the customizable ambient lighting, the TX 350 sets a new standard for luxury in its class,” remarked Deanne.

She also loved the power folding third row of seats as it made the two Costco runs she had to make so much easier to accomplish. With just the flick of a switch, the seats would fold forward to make the rear compartment flat and ready to load.

Safety and assurance

Safety has always been a top priority of ours, and we love Toyota and their luxury division Lexus and the fact that they have chosen to include top-line safety with all makes and trims with their vehicles.

The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, including a pre-collision system, lane departure alert and adaptive cruise control, showcased Lexus’ commitment to passenger safety.

“The TX 350 not only offers a luxurious ride but also a secure one. The safety features are seamlessly integrated, providing peace of mind on the road,” indicated Craig as they navigated around Utah Valley.

The included heads-up display also was a great addition to the Lexus as it provided vital information for us right on the windshield, so we never had to take our eyes off of the road.

Road trip ready

Being no strangers to long drives, we took the TX 350 on an afternoon road trip down through Nephi and up the canyon into Sanpete County to get a feel for a longer time in the luxurious TX. The spacious rear seats would have been comfortable for anyone to enjoy, be it our grandkids or just some friends.

With the front row of seats being both heated and cooled, they were over-the-top comfortable and made for a nice cozy afternoon ride in early February.

“The versatility of the TX 350 is impressive. It’s not just a luxurious SUV; it’s a road trip companion with ample cargo space and thoughtful design elements,” noted Deanne.

Final reflections

As our week ended, we had the opportunity to reflect on our time in the new TX. Craig said, “This week has been a journey of discovering a new vehicle. The TX 350 seamlessly blends power, luxury and advanced technology, setting it apart in the very competitive luxury SUV landscape.”

Deanne added, “Lexus has not just created a new SUV; they’ve crafted an experience. The TX 350 combines performance and elegance, making every drive an occasion to enjoy.”
