Culver’s

Culver’s takes the idea of a down-home country diner to a whole new level. The franchise, which recently opened its first Utah restaurant in Lehi, started with a single store 30 years ago in Sauk City, Wis. Despite its growth, it’s obvious Culver’s has never lost track of those initial small-town roots. There are a full array of butterburgers, sandwiches, salads and sides, with specialty frozen custard-based desserts — something for every taste bud. Our favorites were the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich, the North Atlantic Cod Filet and the Chicken Cashew Salad. The signature Wisconsin Cheese Curds were extremely delicious. And you simply can’t go wrong with any frozen custard dessert.

Cravings

If you have never considered grilled cheese sandwiches to be a gourmet meal item, then prepare to have your perceptions challenged at Cravings bistro in American Fork. The highly creative grilled cheese sandwiches are clearly the star at the bistro, but based on our experience it’s hard to imagine going wrong with anything on the menu. The Creamy Tomato Basil soup was divine as was the Sweet Almond Salad and the Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie a la Mode. As for the sandwiches, we were blown away by the A.B.C. and The Gourmet. After visiting Cravings, you will never look at grilled cheese sandwiches the same again.
