Season three of “The Madame Blanc Mysteries" is streaming now on Acorn TV.

She’s back. As a matter of fact, all the characters from this endearing drama return for the third season of “The Madame Blanc Mysteries” on Acorn TV. Sally Lindsay is Jean White, an antiques dealer with knowledge of all things old, and some things new. With her expertise in artifacts as well as history, she provides the local police plenty of assistance, especially this season when many antiques come into play.

Alex Gaumond is Caron, the local policeman in the quaint town of St. Victoire. Steve Edge is Dom Hayes, the taxi driver who always manages to be in the center of it all, especially when Jean is concerned. He’s her best friend, chauffeur, confidant and partner in crime solving, to the chagrin of Caron, who is always berating them for not informing him before they head into danger.

This season has Gloria (Sue Vincent) dealing with romantic issues as she and Cooper (Avant Strangel) have a relationship that — well, without any spoiler alerts, let’s just say they are not meant for each other due to something in his past.

Jeremy and Judith (Robin Askwith and Sue Holderness) find themselves dealing with all the troubles of running the pub by themselves. Learning to delegate is new to them, but Judith manages to get the hang of it with flying colors — after she has exhausted the good will of all their friends, who generously pitch in to keep the pub going. Thanks to Dom’s uncle Patrick (Tony Robinson), everything ends up all right.

Not only do Judith and Jeremy have their hands full with the pub they own, but during this season a sad event from their past is disclosed. Viewers will feel plenty of empathy for this eccentric couple once they understand the sad chapter in their lives.

While love might not be in the cards for Gloria, there is a couple who realize they belong together. This comes out at the very end of the season. Keen viewers will have already put the two together in their minds, but wait until the final scene to get confirmation about these two.

Whether it is treasure at the bottom of the sea and a dead diver, an old man found with a fencing foil piercing his chest, a nanny whose death might be confused with a book collector, a fashion designer who is at the center of a jealous relationship, a kidnapping that hits close to home, or a hidden treasure somewhere in St. Victoire, there is always a murder at the center of these mysteries. And also at the center is Jean White. Her uncanny way of seeing things and putting clues together before the police, or in spite of them, is what makes her an interesting character. Her mind is a steel trap filled with information, people, places and things. Andy Morgan, the director, explained: “Jean’s not a flamboyant, Sherlock-type character, but she’s a down-to-earth woman who is just as clever! She is exceedingly confident in her knowledge of antiques and she sees things other people don’t see.”

“Caron is meticulous and very much dedicated to his work,” says Gaumond. “In fact, you never see him out of uniform and he doesn’t have much of a social life. When he first meets Jean, he only sees her as a grieving widow picking up her late husband’s belongings. He is unaware of her vast knowledge and expertise of antiques, which will later become crucial to their working partnership. The show has a fantastic balance between intrigue, drama and comedy. It has you on the edge of your seat trying to solve the crimes, and there are plenty of twists and turns.”

St. Victoire is a fictional village in France, although the series is filmed in Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean. The architecture features Grecian-style columns and old stone buildings. To say it’s beautiful is an understatement.

“The Madame Blanc Mysteries” was created by Sally Lindsay and Sue Vincent, who also wrote the episodes. The melodic theme song, “Passing Through,” was written by Lindsay’s husband, Steve White.

Lindsay said, “I want the show to be an hour of TV that lets you make a cup of tea and escape. I hope you love all the people there, you love the world and there’s sunshine too!”
