The Spry Come Together Rock Festival is taking over Orem on Friday and Saturday at the Orem City Center Park.

The festival is run by the Utah Live Concerts Foundation. It begins Friday at 2-9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. ULCF co-founder John Pilmer is excited about the addition of a classic car show that will be near the festival festivities Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

“The car show seems like a natural fit for the Spry Come Together Rock Festival,” Pilmer said. “Classic cars meet classic rock, what’s not to like about that? Music of the ’50s to ’90s brings back warm feelings of days gone by, many in my youth as a baby boomer. The cars of that era were so unique and didn’t look so much the same as cars today. Music is an art form. Car design of yesterday was an art form. I dig the combination.”

All festival and car show activities are free, but food and souvenirs are extra. Pilmer expects roughly 3,000 guests to attend between the two-day event.

“The festival is free, family-friendly and fun,” he said. “There are games for children. There’s food, drinks and T-shirts for purchase. We have several thousand prizes to give away over the two days. We have 26 bands that have been vetted and chosen from over 40 applicants. All volunteer staff and all musicians donate their time.

“I get to play in two bands on Friday, Geneva Road and Shufflin’ Noah. That’s special to me. Most musicians have other careers, although there are a couple of professionals. We have business owners like me. We have attorneys, graphics artists, salespeople, students, cybersecurity experts, you name it. They are all skilled in music.”

ULCF will be encouraging attendees to donate to the American Red Cross through URL and QR codes displayed around the festival stage, according to previous reporting from the Daily Herald.

“All donations are voluntary,” Pilmer said. “We will promote fan donations during the event. We will also donate from the Utah Live Concerts Foundation.”
