Where to commemorate 25 years since 9/11 in Utah County on Friday

The northern Utah County cities of Alpine, Cedar Hills, Highland and Pleasant Grove are holding a combined National Day of Service event Friday, where more than 20 service projects will take place across the cities. Nine hands-on service stations will also take place in Cedar Hills.
Available projects, ranging from painting fire hydrants to yard work and quilt making, can be found at dayofservice911.org/service-projects.
Saratoga Springs is inviting the community this week to three days of service, education and remembrance of the 9/11 attacks from Wednesday to Friday.
Participants can assemble therapy dolls and meal kits, take part in food and coat drives, do park and trail cleanups, and take part in other service projects. Educational opportunities include car seat checks, a parenting class and infant CPR classes.
The event will conclude Friday with a patriotic concert presented by Resonate Vocal Tapestry at 7 p.m. at Neptune Park.
“Our 9/11 Days of Service event is about bringing people together to serve and strengthen our community,” the city’s civic events coordinator, Corrine Prestwich, said in a news release. “As we recognize the 25th anniversary, we hope residents will find a way to serve, whether through one of our organized projects or simply by helping someone in their neighborhood.”
Eagle Mountain will hold a flag ceremony at Cedar Valley High School at 7 a.m. Friday and a Heroes Parade at 9:15 a.m.
In Springville, the Clyde Recreation Center is holding a remembrance stair challenge, where participants climb 110 stories, or 2,071 steps, in honor of firefighters who died on Sept. 11, 2001.
BYU Athletics will also host a tower climb at LaVell Edwards Stadium at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
On Friday during the inaugural First Down Provo, a downtown Provo celebration of BYU football prior to the Cougars’ Big 12 Conference opener against Arizona Saturday, Provo Mayor Marsha Judkins said there will also be a tribute to 9/11 and first responders.
A 9/11 remembrance display is at University Place in Orem until Monday.
