Iron Fire grows to 5,000 acres in Utah and Juab counties; Eureka placed on READY status
The Iron Fire started Friday night north of Eureka and grew to 5,000 acres by Saturday evening, sending smoke and ash billowing over Utah County and placing Eureka on READY status. As of 6:15 p.m. Saturday, the fire reached two miles from Eureka, prompting the evacuation of ranches north of the city, Utah Forestry Fire and State Lands spokeswoman Kelly Wickens said. Eureka residents are asked to have go-bags and be prepared to evacuate at a moment's notice. "The sheriff is evacuating now.
