SPORTS Little Sahara Park filler
With the change of season comes an influx of visitors to Little Sahara Recreation Area (LSRA), especially during the Easter holiday weekend. BLM staff and other federal and state agencies are preparing for over 40,000 visitors to visit the Little Sahara Sand Dunes during the Easter holiday weekend. ” said Ferris Clegg, Manager of Little Sahara Recreation Area.
Beginning this Easter weekend, visitors will notice the presence of Law Enforcement Officers (LEO). The LEO’s are there for public safety over this holiday weekend.
Things to know before visiting LSRA:
— The Day Use Fee during high-use holiday weekends increased from $8.00 per vehicle to $10.00 per vehicle. This includes use of the area for one day and camping for one night. Annual Passes are not affected by this high-use holiday fee increase. Visitors will be charged this fee starting on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 and throughout the following holiday weekend.
— All four of the campgrounds will be open. Flush toilets will be working and the water will be turned on for the season.
— Firewood will be available from venders. Wooden pallets are not permitted.
— Safety flags are required for all ATV’s.
— Children eight years old and younger are not permitted to ride on ATV’s. Children between the ages of eight and 16 years old must hold a valid driver’s license or a Utah Education Certificate in order to operate an ATV.
Canyonlands Natural History Association inside the LSRA visitor center offers everything from books to Chap Stick.
Little Sahara is known as “Utah’s Largest Sandbox” with more than 320,000 visitors yearly. Although Little Sahara does not provide all services, the surrounding cities of Nephi and Delta are full-service communities. These nearby cities offer a full compliment of hospitals, fuel, groceries, hotels, OHV supplies and other amenities.
