Ladies Night: Grab your sisters, girlfriends, mothers and daughters and take advantage of these activities aimed at girls

By Staff | Jun 14, 2009

Climb on: The Quarry in Provo has unofficial gatherings of women climbers. According to the Web site, www.quarryclimbing.com, women are naturally made for climbing because “they think smarter and not harder in order to solve climbing sequences.” Meet other women climbers, or take a series of classes to learn to traverse the rock face. Every Thursday is Ladies Night; after 6 p.m., women climb for $10, including the harness. 2494 N. University Pkwy., Provo, (801) 418-0266, www.quarryclimbing.com

Rock out: Video games aren’t just for boys. Grab your girls and have a “Guitar Hero” or “Rock Band” night. This is also a great mother/daughter activity. Make it potluck or order in, and you’ve got a great night of laughs.

Switch it up: Have a Closet Exchange. Attend this evening (or afternoon) with your girlfriends armed with treats, drinks and items from your closet that you’re ready to part with. From clothes to shoes to accessories, one woman’s castoffs are another woman’s treasures.

No boys allowed: Don’t drag your boyfriend or husband to those girly events you’re just dying to see. Take the girls. From live theater to the latest chick flick to a scrapbooking expo, the man in your life will thank you for letting him stay home. And let’s face it, you’ll both have a good time. You’ll be able to talk shop with your girlfriends and ooh and aah over all the glittering details of the latest gossip. If you’re all pinching pennies, just go out for dessert instead of dinner. Everything sounds better over cheesecake, anyway.

Recharge: BYU’s Women’s Services and Resources offers programs open to both students and non-students. “Revitalizing Yoga” and “Mindfulness Meditation” are both free and taught weekly. Take the time to rejuvenate body and mind. Visit wsr.byu.edu or call (801) 422-4877 for more details.
