Pins on Pinterest: Mother’s Day magic

By Staff | May 5, 2016

Mother’s Day is just a few days away. That blessed Sunday when little children attempt to make Mom breakfast in bed while leaving the kitchen disaster to clean up later that morning. While Mother’s Day might be a bit stressful for you moms, there are some ideas you could suggest to your husband and older children that might be more of a gift and less of a mess.

When I think of a gift for a young mom, I do still think of breakfast in bed, but I also think of much-needed spa days and sweet, heartfelt cards from their beautiful children. So, with those three ideas in mind, I came up with some great Mother’s Day ideas. For even more, log on to our Mother’s Day board on Pinterest.

Breakfast

First of all, make this a simple process by encouraging your kids to prep the breakfast the night before. They can whip up that pancake batter the night before. Or, they can make a breakfast casserole that sits in the fridge overnight. Encourage the kids to clean up everything before going to bed, too, for an easier, cleaner morning prep.

Want to really keep breakfast in bed simple to prepare? Tell your kids what your favorite cereal is and how much you love a simple bowl of cereal, toast and orange juice. Simple just might be perfect.

If you do have aspiring chefs in your home that you trust, throw some of these decadent ideas their way: Nutella-stuffed pancakes, Strawberry French Toast Rollups, Ham Quiche Cups, or even a Waffle Bar with all your favorite fixings.

Heartfelt gifts

Little handprints, sweet messages of love and cute photos from your children are memories you are sure to treasure forever. With some additional creativity, those loving gifts will be items you can actually use every day.

A white ceramic coffee mug, for instance, becomes a wonderful palette for a fun Best Mom in the World message. Polka dots surrounding MOM spelled out in stickers is great! Paint those colorful dots around the sticker letters. Let the paint dry and then remove the stickers for a custom-made mug. Instead of dots, you could also do thumbprints.

Pull out your scrapbook supplies and let your husband supervise the kiddos as they create handmade cards. With several clever ideas and templates, your children are sure to have a blast while expressing their love for you in keepsake cards.

Spa day

This is the best idea! All mothers deserve a spa day, right? And while some moms might not have the money or time for a luxurious day at a swanky spa, they usually do have a precious hour or two in the evenings when she can treat herself to a luxurious night in her own bathtub. These great ideas will help encourage her to take some time out.

Many of those fancy salt scrubs, sugar rubs and bath bombs found at fancy spas can all actually be created at home with some clever recipes. Create a Lemon Sugar Scrub for your mom’s feet that she will love. Create bath salts the include her favorite essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus.

Children can even create an edible face mask that will perfectly combine that desire for refreshed skin with your love of chocolate. Speaking of chocolate, every Mother’s Day gift should include some sweet, chocolatey treat.
