Get out your chalk

Whether you are going as an artist or a spectator, the annual Chalk the Block Riverwoods Chalk Art Festival is a great event for the whole family. The free three-day event features some of the best local artists decorating the streets at The Shops at Riverwoods with creative, unique chalk art.

This year, event sponsors have also partnered with Spectrum Academy in Pleasant Grove to help bring understanding and attention to the growing rates of autism in the community. The Chalk the Block will host a Spectrum of Colors Glow Run, coinciding with the Chalk Art Festival to help benefit Spectrum Academy. The run will kick off with a pre-party at 7 p.m., Friday, with the fun run at 8:45 p.m. and the 5K race at 9:15 p.m. Awards will be given at 10 p.m.

When: See the finished chalk art from 3-10 p.m., Saturday

Where: The Shops at Riverwoods; 4801 N. University Avenue, Provo

Eat some salmon

One of the most iconic events in Utah County each summer is the Payson Salmon Supper. For more than 60 years, the Payson Salmon Supper has brought together members of the community to feast on salmon. The event started in 1954 as the LDS Park Ward started the event as a fundraiser. Today, volunteer firefighters and EMTs serve up the dish for the community.

New this year are souvenir and craft booths, along with the entertainment that runs throughout the evening.

When: 4-8 p.m., Friday

Where: Payson City Memorial Park; 300 S. Main St., Payson

Cost: $16 per plate with pre-purchased tickets, $18 per plate the day of the event

Beat the heat

It’s almost August and it is hot outside, so head to Eagle Mountain for the city’s annual Beat the Heat Bonanza. You can play on bumper boats, inflatable water slides and a foam pit at this free event. There also will be free cotton candy, as well as the Kona Ice truck and The Soda Truck.

When: noon to 3 p.m.; Saturday
