5 ways to have fun with your family in Utah County this week
Utah County is a great place for family fun, with events across the valley for kids of all ages. Here are five fun events that are perfect for the whole family this week.
Take the family to an outdoor performance
The opening performance of the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater’s summer season is now underway. “Shrek the Musical” brings together a great cast to tell the fairy tale adventure with the beloved characters from the film on stage.

See an outdoor movie
Several cities will be hosting their summer outdoor movie series with films showing this week.
The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater will show “The Greatest Showman” at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are required for this film showing.
The Spanish Fork Movie Night on Main series will air “Maleficent” Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the lawn behind the Spanish Fork Library. Provo will show “Despicable Me” Monday at dusk at Rock Canyon Park (2620 N. 1200 East, Provo). Springville will show “BFG” at dusk at Spring Acres Park (700 S. 1300 East).
Celebrate Flag Day
The Freedom Festival of Provo will host a flag retirement ceremony with entertainment and a chosen youth and guest speaker. Provo mayor Michelle Kaufusi will speak, along with Gene England, owner of England Trucking and Transport.

Get a taste of Strawberry Days
Pleasant Grove’s annual city celebration kicks off Saturday with several family-friendly events this weekend, including a car show and car cruise on Saturday, an outdoor concert on Sunday, and a free family swim day, garden tour and Kiwanis Relay Race on Monday.

Pick up some produce
The Provo Farmers Market kicked off its summer season last week and will run every Saturday through October. Vendors at the market include farmers, food artists, food providers, neighbors, crafters, as well as civic and nonprofit organizations. Its a family-friendly event that encourages eating healthy locally-grown produce from Utah County’s farmers.
