5 ways to have fun with your family in Utah County this week

Utah County is a great place for family fun, with events across the valley for kids of all ages. Here are five fun events that are perfect for the whole family this week.

Head to the Lehi Round-Up

This week, Lehi will celebrate summer with its annual city celebration, the Lehi Round-Up. There are several events throughout the week that are perfect for families and kids of all ages, including the city’s Party Rock Project, the Family Western BBQ, an outdoor movie, an animal talent show, the annual Stock Parade, the annual Miniature Parade, the Grand Parade and, the famous, annual PRCA Lehi Round-Up Rodeo.

Go to baseball camp

Players from the Orem Owlz will be hosting a baseball camp at University Place Friday. The event, for kids aged 7 to 14, will include an hour of instruction on batting, fielding and throwing. Each participant will get free items and a voucher for an Orem Owlz home game. Registration is required and participants should bring their own bat and glove.

When: 10-11 a.m., noon-1 p.m.; Friday

Where: University Place; 575 E. University Pkwy., Orem

Cost: $10 per person

Be a Neighbor

BYU Broadcasting will host the “Be My Neighbor Day” — a day aimed at helping children get to know the special helpers in their neighborhoods. The event will celebrate firefighters, doctors, nurses, police officers, teachers, farmers, mail carriers and members of the armed forces.

Kids can meet and take photos with PBS characters Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat. They will also get the chance to explore fire engines, postal trucks, police cars and more. There will be games, crafts, activities and refreshments available.

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday

Where: BYU Broadcasting; 610 E. University Pkwy., Provo

Have fun with Legos

The UCCU Center at Utah Valley University will be home to BrickSlopes, a Lego fan event, for the fifth year. Those attending the Lego expo can participate in Lego games and activities, see giant Lego creations, build and play in a BrickPit, build a customized Lego race car and win prizes. There will also be an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for Longest Lego Fire Walk.

When: noon-7 p.m.,

Join in a parade

The annual Freedom Festival Children’s Parade will feature around 2,500 local children, demonstrating pride in America and its heritage. The parade will begin at 800 E. Center St. in Provo and travel to 200 E. Center St. Kids will be separated into separate categories to ride or walk in the parade, and will be joined by the marching bands from Provo and Timpview high schools.

Kids participating in the parade will also have the chance to meet police officers and firefighters at the event. They will also receive a treat at the end of the parade.
