5 ways to have fun with your family in Utah County this week
Utah County is a great place for family fun, with events across the valley for all ages.
Here are five fun events that are perfect for the whole family this week:
Celebrate the Dog Days
If your dog is just as much a part of your family as anyone else, this week you can celebrate fall with your four-legged friend.
Have a fun time with your pooch at Dog Days in the Garden at Thanksgiving Point. Dogs can enjoy the fall weather while strolling through Ashton Gardens.
There also will be an off-leash area for those dogs who want to run free.
When: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., through Saturday

Celebrate harvest
This fall, celebrate with your family by seeing some of the biggest pumpkins in the state. Thanksgiving Point will host the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers Annual Pumpkin Weigh Off.
You can see monster-sized pumpkins, and this year, the weigh-off also will include competitions for gourds, tomatoes, field pumpkins and watermelons.
The weigh-off will kick off Thanksgiving Point’s Harvest Festival, a free event with artisan and produce vendors, crafts for kids and music.
When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday

Have fun in a corn maze
Glen Ray’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch opens for the season Friday evening in Spanish Fork. There are two different corn mazes you and your family can try — a regular corn maze or a haunted corn maze.
They also have several smaller attractions including a kiddie corral, petting zoo, corn pit, hay maze, straw maze, straw pyramid, slides, little buckaroo rodeo and pumpkin patch.

See Lil’ Sebastian
For any “Parks and Rec” fans, Monday’s Harvest Festival in Orem will be a fun event.
The second annual Orem Harvest Festival will again feature Lil’ Sebastian, as well as games, a free petting zoo, free horse carousel, food vendors, food trucks and live music. You won’t want to miss the special performance of “5,000 Candles in the Wind.”
When: 4-8 p.m., Monday

Check out local woodcarvings
The Utah Valley Woodcarvers Club will host its annual woodcarving show Friday and Saturday. You can see the works of local woodcarvers, as well as see special presentations.
Two chain saw carvers will do demonstrations Friday and Saturday, local woodcarver Guy Nelson will be carving Boy Scout bolo ties and several club members will be teaching small carving projects throughout both days.
When: Noon-7 p.m., Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday
Where: Veterans Memorial Building; 400 N. Main St., Spanish Fork
Cost: $3 per person, 10 and under free
