Utah Valley Living: 3 events to check out this week (June 27-July 5)
- Fireworks explode after the Stadium of Fire concert at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
- Children play in the creek at Memorial Park as parents watch during the Payson Scottish Festival on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
- Residents attend a flag-unfurling ceremony in Pleasant Grove on Independence Day, July 4, 2024.

1. America’s Freedom Festival
Various times and locations throughout the week
This event is one of the highlights of the year in Utah Valley annually, but had added significance with the America 250 celebration. Activities will take place in Provo, Orem, Spanish Fork and other locations, capped by the Stadium of Fire at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on July 4. The official website says: “America’s Freedom Festival at Provo is one of America’s premier patriotic celebrations. Its roots trace back to the 1870s, more than two decades before Utah became a state.”

2. Here Comes the Sun Rock Festival 2026
Memorial Park, Payson, June 27, 9:30 a.m.-9:45 p.m.
Head to Payson to enjoy some free rock concerts at the Here Comes the Sun Rock Festival. The music will be going all day on Saturday, as will other elements of the festival. The city website says: “This music festival is a production of the Utah Live Concerts Foundation. ULCF’s formal mission is to create better opportunities and affordable family entertainment using our area’s deep reservoir of local talent. In addition to live music, the event will feature food trucks and art vendors.”

3. By the Dawn’s Early Light
Grove Creek Trailhead, Pleasant Grove, July 4, 7:30 a.m.
Be a part of the Independence Day tradition that features an enormous flag that can be seen for miles. The event website says: “By The Dawn’s Early Light Flag Unfurling Ceremony celebrates the 12th year of the over-the-top American celebration. Witness in-person a sight that will put those bumps on your arms and warmth in your heart. Cannon fire, horses ride and a fly over accompanied by a choir will help remind you, that this is a sacred, God-given land that we must protect for future generations.”
