Jared Maurillo in High School Musical

By Springville Herald - | Nov 22, 2006

Jared Murillo, a Mapleton resident, has been chosen to perform with Disney’s High School Musical Concert tour which begins November 29th in San Diego, California. The tour will span over 40 cities in two months and conclude in Las Vegas on January 28th.

“High School Musica,” which has grown into a pop-culture phenomenon has already produced a triple-platinum selling soundtrack and is the top selling album to date and is predicted to finish #1 in the pop charts for the year.

Murillo will be featured as a principal dancer and an assistant choreographer for the entire production. Not bad for an 18-year-old from Mapleton who already has earned multiple titles in dance competitions.

He is the current United States Latin Youth ballroom champion as well as a former World and United States Swing Champion.

He comes from a family of seven children who all participate in the arts and have developed their talents and skills at Center Stage Performing Arts Studios in Orem which his parents, Alex and Robin Murillo, own and operate.

Marillo was in the original “High School Musical” production that was mostly shot in Salt Lake City. He was in the Disney video with Zac Efron (lead male character) in the hit song, “Getcha Your Head in the Game”.

Jared will be performing with Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu and others.

He has been in rehearsals working long and hard hours in LA getting ready to take the show on the road and has choreographed solo dances, where he will be dancing with Monique and other stars of the show.

Murillo has already signed on for the Disney Television sequel to High School Musical. Shooting for the sequel is scheduled to begin sometime in February. Salt Lake and St. George are currently being considered for production.

He will have a weekly blog with backstage photos of the cast and a journal of activities while on tour. The blog is sponsored by Utah DanceSport Championships ballroom competition coming to Thanksgiving Point in February.

The weekly blog will be located at www.centerstageutah.com and www.utahdancesport.com.
