Holiday Chevron opens in Eagle Mountain

By Charlynn Anderson - North County Staff - | Oct 11, 2006

Eagle Mountain got its first gas station last week on Oct. 4 — a new Holiday Chevron on the southwest corner of Pony Express Parkway and Ranches Parkway in the Ranches.

With festive red, white and blue banners, the new gas station and convenience store are already serving Eagle Mountain residents and travelers who want to fuel their cars or pick up some snack food to fuel themselves.

“It’s very helpful to be able to get gas close to home,” said Eagle Mountain resident, Brycyn Payne on Saturday as he filled his car with gas. Payne said that as soon as he finished filling his car, he planned to come back and fill up the family’s other vehicle.

Being able to fill up at a neighborhood gas station before a trip instead of hurrying on the way was an advantage Payne saw in the new business. The new Holiday Chevron is conveniently located for both Ranches residents and residents of the city center area of Eagle Mountain.

“I just drove over from city center. It’s right on the way from Unity Pass,” said Angela Spencer. The new self-serve gas station boasts 16 pumps with unleaded fuel. Eight of the pumps also dispense diesel fuel.

“Because we’re the only one here, people might think we’d have high prices. But as you can see, our prices are competitive,” manager Abdul Abu-Dan said.

Customers who use their Chevron/Texaco charge cards to purchase gas save an additional 5 cents off per gallon. But the new business is much more than a gas station. A convenience store and a car wash also serve customers’ needs.

The car wash has a regular cycle for $4 and a deluxe clean for $6, in addition to a car vacuum and free air. Customers can also use car wash buckets to wash off the worst of their vehicle’s off-road dirt before driving through the car wash to maximize the cleaning. The convenience store offers everything from snack items and deli sandwiches to cold remedies and baby food. With both Coke and Pepsi products and slushies with creative flavors like “Tiger’s Blood” and “Bug Juice,” travelers can please their taste buds.

“We’ll do our best for our customers to make them happy, and if there’s an item people want us to carry, we’ll do our best to get it in for them,” said Abu-Dan.

The manager enjoys watching children’s faces light up when they see the array of Chevron toy cars with faces. Abu-Dan managed the Holiday Oil Co. station in Lehi before coming to the new Eagle Mountain business.

Since he is an Eagle Mountain resident, it’s a shorter drive for him as well.

“Every month we have specials,” said Abu-Dan. October’s specials include 44 ounce fountain drinks for 89 cents, any size coffee or hot chocolate for 89 cents, and Dunford chocolate doughnuts, two for $1.
