Sub for Santa: Woman needs Christmas boost for her children after divorce

The end of a marriage has made 2024 a stressful year for Sophia.
After splitting up with her husband at the beginning of the year and ultimately getting a divorce, the former stay-at-home mom of two young children had to find outside employment.
Sophia started work in the spring, but she has had to play catch-up on bills and rent as the year has progressed. She was unable to make room for in her budget for Christmas.
“I just haven’t even been able to save up for any presents this year and don’t think I will be able to in time because both their birthdays are right before Christmas, too,” she said.
United Way is committed to helping families like Sophia’s have a memorable Christmas season despite the ongoing challenges.
Sophia’s son, Sammy, and daughter, Charlotte, each need pants, long-sleeved shirts and socks. Sammy would like Spiderman and Ninja Turtle toys as a gift, and Charlotte wants sparkly toys and an Elsa doll from “Frozen.”
United Way of Utah County invites all to get involved this holiday season. If you would like to be part of this annual holiday initiative and help bring the Christmas spirit to those in need, visit subforsanta.org.
