Breeze Airways, based in Cottonwood Heights, is opening a new training academy in Salt Lake City.As the colder Utah months prepare to set in, Provo travelers will have yet another warm destination to choose from.
On Tuesday, Breeze Airways announced new service to Orlando, Florida, starting Dec. 21.
Breeze Airways officials shared the news as the Utah-based low-cost carrier launched its inaugural flights from Provo to Washington Dulles International Airport, which it announced last month.
“It’s an exciting day for us as we launch our newest route from our hometown airport to Washington Dulles International, a route that has never seen service from Provo, and announce a new nonstop to Orlando starting in December,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ CEO and founder, in a press release on Tuesday.
Travelers can catch a nonstop flight to Disney World – located just outside of Orlando – or to the nation’s capital from the Provo airport three times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, the release stated.
Travelers can book a one-way ticket to the Sunshine State for $79 through May 2025 if purchased by next Thursday.
The recent routes offered by Breeze adds to momentum underway at the Provo Airport aiming to connect Utah County with even more desirable destinations.
In addition to Washington, D.C., and Orlando, Breeze began flying nonstop from Provo to Dallas, Texas, earlier this year.
Airline officials say that when they consider adding a service from Provo, a number of factors are at play.
“When we’re looking at potential markets to fly from Provo, we’re taking into account many things, including Department of Transportation data showing where people want to go and where there is a need for more affordable airfares,” Ryne Williams, Breeze Airways communications specialist, said in a text-messaged statement. “Then we look at how we could stimulate the demand for a route with affordable fares, convenient days of flying, and marketing.”
The carrier also flies to destinations in Arizona, California, and Colorado from the Provo Airport.
“We’ve always viewed Provo as a great airport for our guests, and that’s been echoed by many. Cheaper parking, shorter TSA security lines, and you can get from the car to your gate in moments compared to other airports,” Williams said.
