Loved ones are remembering the life of a 22-year-old woman who died in a fatal motorcycle crash on Tuesday night.
American Fork police said a vehicle and motorcycle collided around 8:30 p.m., near 820 W. State Street; bystanders reportedly helped to render aid to the woman who was riding the bike until emergency responders arrived and took over, but she ultimately died at the scene, ABC4 reported.
Police did not identify the woman, and said they were investigating a cause for the accident.
However, a GoFundMe campaign started by her family to help with funeral expenses identifies the woman as Aaliya Bishop of Eagle Mountain.
She’s described as someone who always showed compassion and kindness to those around her, and always made time for others.
“Her creativity and passion inspired those around her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her,” the crowd fundraiser reads.
Lacianne Weyland, who said her son is Bishop’s boyfriend, says that they’re devastated by the loss.
Weyland said her son Jack was not ready to speak with the media at this time as he is navigating the death of his girlfriend, but she called Bishop “the sweetest, most loveable woman.”
Weyland said she’d only known Bishop for about six months, but in that time she made an immediate bond with their family.
“We’re so very lucky to have known her, she would bring me cookies with cute little notes and hand drawn pictures,” she told the Daily Herald.
Another thing Weyland said she enjoyed about Bishop and her son’s relationship is that she inspired him to partake in new activities.
“She loved swimming, so she would get my son to join us doing that, which he didn’t used to love doing,” the mother said.
Weyland added that her son also lost his dad to a fatal car crash in 2016.
Bishop’s mother took to social media on Wednesday sharing the news of her daughter’s passing; writing ” we love her and will miss her terribly.”
According to American Fork police, no one else was injured in Tuesday’s crash.
