Hundreds of Walmart locations across the country will soon undergo renovations as the major retailer looks to remodel 650 stores.

Three Walmart stores in Utah are slated for a refresh, including the Supercenter in Springville, according to an April 23 company press release.

The makeovers are part of the retail giant’s overall “Stores of the Future” project, USA Today recently reported.

Walmart said the updates and improvements aim to enhance the experience of both the consumer and their associates, the release noted.

Planned changes, according to the release, include new signage to showcase merchandise, more item selections, expanded online shopping features and a reimagining of their pharmacies, among other transformations.

Walmart says these initiatives underscore its commitment in Utah.

“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,” said Walmart Sr. Vice President and West U.S. Business Operations Lead Jay Cordray as part of the release.

Walmart has invested over $280 million in store upgrades across the state over the past five years, it said in the release.

“By investing in our stores and associates, we are not only improving the shopping experience but also reinforcing our commitment to being a vital part of the community’s fabric, helping to build a brighter future for all,” Cordray added.

As the Daily Herald previously reported, a new Eagle Mountain Supercenter location will soon wrap up construction and is slated for a late summer opening.

Plans are also in the works to build a new Walmart Supercenter in west Provo.

In March, the Provo Planning Commission approved a developer’s proposal to construct the store just west of the Lakeview Parkway and University Avenue freeway exit.

A Utah spokesperson for Walmart told the Daily Herald in an email they did not have any “official confirmation” regarding a new west Provo store at this time.

No exact timeline was given on when remodel projects in Utah may begin or how long they may last, but stores are expected to remain open during renovations.

Aside from the Springville Supercenter, two other Utah Walmart stores were selected for remodels.
