A woman was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail following “a disturbance” at a Utah County Planning Commission meeting Tuesday in Provo, according to authorities.

A video circulating on social media shows a woman yelling at deputies while she is being escorted out of the commission chamber by a deputy. In the lobby, she is thrown to the ground by the deputy and detained.

The sheriff’s office said the woman was booked on counts of disrupting a meeting, interference with an arresting officer and assault on a police officer, while two others were released on citations for disrupting a meeting and interfering with arrest. The incident is being reviewed by UCSO supervisory personnel.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement Wednesday morning that the woman was asked to leave the chamber but refused and began arguing with the deputies.

Authorities said the deputy took hold of her and began to remove her from her row of chairs. The deputy was then struck in the groin by the woman, after which two other individuals grabbed hold of her to prevent her from being removed, the statement said.

“The group of three were removed from the chambers and taken to the lobby where UCSO deputies began to separate the parties,” the statement said. “In that process, the female, that struck the deputy, and the deputy went to the ground.”

The woman stopped resisting and was secured in hand restraints, then reported that her jaw was hurting and asked to use the restroom, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies called Provo Fire EMS services to the scene to check on her and facilited her being able to go to the restroom, the statement said.

“EMS did not find emergent or immediate injuries and advised her to potentially seek further care later,” the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said multiple people were being disruptive during the meeting while the planning commission discussed an ordinance related to data centers. The statement said one man was asked to leave the meeting and did so without incident and was not cited.

The ordinance approved by the planning commission would allow data centers as a permitted use in the Mining and Grazing and Industrial Zones and establish a Data Center Overlay Zone.
