A Mapleton man has been reported missing and overdue after he did not return home from a solo hiking trip in southeast Utah.

David Andrew Engler, 54, was hiking in the Grand County area and was expected to return home Sunday night, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

He has not been seen since April 5 at 6:45 a.m., when his 2024 Toyota Tundra was spotted by an LPR camera traveling southbound on State Road 191 at the south end of Grand County, the sheriff’s office said in a social media post. April 5 was also the last time he responded to any text messages from family, authorities said.

Engler’s cellphone appears to be off, and there is no available location data, according to authorities.

“He was possibly in the Dead Horse Point area, but his current location is unknown,” the sheriff’s office said.

Engler is 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, Caucasian with blue eyes and brown hair. His truck’s license plate number is H005EK. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office at 435-587-2237.

Starting at $4.32/week.
