Timberline Middle School in Alpine was briefly placed on lockdown protocol Tuesday after authorities say a threatening phone call was made to staff members.

The phone call, made just before noon, prompted the school to lock access doors while officers and school staff investigated the situation, according to Lone Peak police. Authorities determined there was no legitimate threat and normal school operations resumed with police presence on campus.

An email sent by the Alpine School District to parents and shared on social media by Aspen Peaks School District board member Nicki Brammer said the threat was made at 11:44 a.m. and the security status was lifted at 12:25 p.m.

“We want to assure you that all students, faculty and staff are safe,” the email said. “Our students did an excellent job following procedures, and we are grateful for the swift response and professional handling of the situation by the Lone Peak Police.”

The Alpine School District did not respond to a request for comment prior to the Daily Herald’s Tuesday print deadline.
