A Provo police car is parked on Center Street on Saturday, June 25, 2022.A lockdown at Provo High School Monday morning was lifted after officials determined there was no credible threat from a suspicious phone call reportedly made.
At 7:32 a.m., the Metro Communications Center received a call from an individual who said they were at Provo High School and threatened to kill themselves and others, according to a Provo police news release.
Authorities followed protocol in securing the building, initiating a lockdown and conducting a search of building. Police said no safety threats were found, and that the call appears to have been a hoax. The lockdown was lifted at 10 a.m., but officers will continue their investigation, police said.
The Provo City School District said the school day would proceed as normal with police presence remaining, and that parents may excuse their children from class.
“We understand these types of incidents can be frightening for students and guardians alike,” Provo police said. “We want to remind our community that our department will always respond to, and
investigate, threats toward our schools, their students, and staff. We appreciate the community’s patience and support while we carried out our duties.”
