In partnership with the Marc C. and Deborah H. Bingham Foundation, the Bingham Family Clinic in the Health Professions Building opened April 17.

UVU College of Health and Public Health Dean Sue Jackson told the Daily Herald the facility will provide access to care for individuals and families who do not qualify for traditional assistance but still cannot afford care.

“The Bingham Family Clinic is designed to serve that underserved population,” Jackson said in an email. “When people can’t access timely, quality care, small issues become much more serious. This clinic helps fill that gap in a way that is sorely needed in this valley.”

The clinic will provide primary care services with an emphasis on patient education and an integrated care model, according to Jackson. Specialists are also brought in by appointment. Medical exams, chronic care management, an on-site pharmacy and dental hygiene are among the specific services.

Students studying nursing, public health and dental hygiene will be provided on-site learning opportunities by serving at the clinic. Jackson said they will learn a more integrated model of care, where providers are not just addressing medical needs, but connecting patients to resources and education.

“It helps students understand how to care for the whole person and how to work within a coordinated system, which is how healthcare is increasingly delivered,” Jackson said. 

According to the clinic website, clients qualify for service if they are uninsured, and their total household income is below 300% of the federal poverty level. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 987 South Geneva Road, Suite 141.
