The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Wednesday a $25 million contribution to a global nutrition initiative.

Funds are going to the UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund to enhance nutrition and health for mothers and young children worldwide. The donation matches a $25 million contribution the church made to the program in 2025.

“This contribution will help the fund reach up to 320 million children and women each year by 2030 with proven, lifesaving interventions, including support for programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines and Sierra Leone,” a church news release said.

Approximately 181 million children lack access to basic nutritious foods, while 150 million suffer from stunted growth and 43 face life-threatening malnutrition, according to the church. The Child Nutrition Fund provides nutrition, promotes healthy diets and breastfeeding and identifies and treats malnutrition.

“We are grateful to work with UNICEF to improve the health and nutrition of women and children,” said Presiding Bishop W. Christopher Waddell in the news release. “Our long-standing work with UNICEF reflects shared values and a commitment to care for those in need around the world. The Church’s efforts to care for those who are vulnerable are guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ to seek out and serve individuals.”

Starting at $4.32/week.
