The boy, whose age was not specified, was crossing Center Street just before 8 p.m. when he was struck, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken by ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said its investigations team was called to the scene to assist with the investigation, and that the driver of the vehicle was cooperating. The initial phase of the investigation indicated that impairment was not a factor, authorities said. The case remains under investigation.
