A 2022 survey found 43% of U.S. citizens would like to save money. This makes sense, considering Americans waste around $18,000 per year.

Luckily, there’s an easy way to start saving money today. All you have to do is download one or all of the following finance apps: Loot, Too Good To Go, Rocket Money, CouponCabin and GasBuddy. Let’s go through the functions, prices and reviews of these apps to see how they can help you save a few bucks.

1. Loot: Savings goal and tracker

Loot motivates you to save money and stay on top of your financial objectives. You can put coins into a 3D jar, personalize your goals and know the exact amount of money you need to save before the due date. You can also set up reminders for specific times so you don’t forget. This app is free, but in order to unlock more than one jar/goal, you have to buy it for $2.99. This app can help you save money and have fun while doing it.

Review: “Love this app! It’s well worth the low cost! This app is very simple and intuitive with no bugs I’ve run into. Being able to see your money be put into jars is an awesome visual aid and has helped me in learning how to budget.”

2. Too Good To Go: End food waste

With almost 300 million pounds of food being wasted every day in the U.S., Too Good To Go aims at fighting food waste and helping you save money. You can get food at a reduced price from numerous stores, restaurants, etc. If you have extra food, you can share it with family and friends. Review“Love the options, and honestly enjoy the random finds of new places to try out! This is great if you are not picky about what food you receive and want to try new things or find meals to save so you save some money on your food bill. Have rarely had any issues with the app and just have to keep track of the time or set alarms to get in line for places you want to try out!”

3. Rocket Money: Bills and budgets

Rocket Money can help you with your finances by keeping track of your bills and even canceling subscriptions for you. They’ve canceled more than 100 million subscriptions and helped their clients save more than $100 million. This app has been featured by Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, Money, etc. You can download this app for free or pay for premium at $3/$12 a month.

Review“A few dollars here. A few dollars there. Sometimes, I can forget about subscriptions I’ve previously agreed to and I no longer need them. Rocket Money makes identifying them a cinch, and I can even cancel them in the app. All of my money in one place (with multiple bank accounts and credit cards) really simplifies how I am handling my money. It will even make recommendations as to where I might be able to increase my savings. I believe I’m only beginning to see the benefits of using this app.”

4. CouponCabin: Coupon app

The main purpose of CouponCabin is to give you coupons so you can save money. This app has coupons for over 3,500 stores, including CVS, Harbor Freight, Petco, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Walgreens and GameStop. You can win free items, receive exclusive deals and print off or download codes when going in person to the store. CouponCabin is also completely free and doesn’t require any subscriptions. As you use the coupons and discounts found in this app, you can save money at the stores you shop at most.

Review: “Coupon Cabin is great for receiving cash back, for finding coupons, and finding sales for the store you are shopping. You can also find new stores, stores you didn’t know about, by searching for an item on the main page. This app does as advertised, and does it well.”

5. GasBuddy: Find and pay for gas

GasBuddy can help you avoid paying full price for gas, saving money in your wallet. This app sends you to the best places for gas at lower prices, gives you great tips on how to save gas and helps you win rewards. You can even know about recalls on your car. With this app being completely free, there’s no reason for you not to download it and save on gas.

Review“Great app! I’ve been using this app for probably 7 years now and it has saved quite a bit of money. It has helped me find the cheapest gas around. I’ve only recently learned about noticing deal alerts where you can save extra at certain stations. Then when you report the prices you can also go in for a drawing of $100. They do the drawing weekly. It’s been worth it for me and my family!”

These five money-saving apps can help you in numerous ways, including saving money, motivating you to reserve funds, keeping track of your subscriptions, avoiding paying full price for everyday items or gas and aiding the planet.
