This map shows the site of a new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple to be built in Lehi.

A little over two weeks after President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints revealed that one of 15 new temples to be built would be in Lehi, church leaders have announced the site’s location.

It will sit at the northwest corner of the intersection of 3950 North and Center Street in Lehi, near Belmont Elementary School and Viewpoint Middle School.

According to a church press release, the approximately 85,000-square-foot, multistory temple and a new meetinghouse will be built on a 22.48-acre site.

Nelson made the announcement earlier this month during the Sunday afternoon session of the church’s biannual general conference.

Early speculation from residents on a Lehi community Facebook page following the news suggested the temple might be built somewhere in the Traverse Mountain area of the city.

Lehi, whose population sits at roughly 85,000 residents, is home to Utah’s growing technology sector known as Silicon Slopes.

This will mark Lehi’s first temple and the eighth in Utah County.
