A pair of Provo events are ready to celebrate Palm Sunday and the start of the Easter season this weekend.

A “Journey to Easter” interfaith concert and reflection night will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Marriott Center.

Hosted by the Provo Communication Council of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the concert will include performances from the Lux Choral Society and Orchestra and 10 local choirs.

There will also be talks from Pastor Mike Smith of CenterPoint Church Utah, the Rev. Dani Lee of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and Pastor Jeff McCullough of Hello Saints.

BYU professors Eric Huntsman and Tyler Jay Griffin and Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi will also share thoughts.

“In preparation for Easter and remembering the event that led up to Christ’s crucifixion and then ultimately to the beautiful day of His resurrection, we pray that all will set time aside to attend special events in your communities and churches, to focus on the beauty of this special week,” the The Lux Choral Society, Orchestra & Friends said in a release.

Prior to the concert, the Provo Communication Council will hold a Pre-Holy Week Service Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 352 N. 900 East in Provo for ages 12 and up.

The function will support local nonprofits, including Provo’s Food Care Coalition, Charity Vision, Utah Foster Care and Provo warming centers.

The service will be followed by a light dinner at 6:15 p.m., a performance by Christian band J209 at 7 p.m. and a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints multistake dance for single adults in Provo at 8 p.m.
