Passengers depart an Allegiant Air flight at the Provo Municipal Airport on Thursday, April 16, 2020.

As of Thursday, Provo’s Municipal Airport and Allegiant are offering three new nonstop flights.

Service began Thursday from Provo to Austin and Houston, Texas. On Friday, flights to Palm Springs, California, from Provo take off.

“We’re thrilled to offer Provo residents with three new options for their warm winter getaways,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s senior vice president of revenue and planning. “We think vacationers will appreciate our unique brand of travel: low-cost, nonstop flights without the hassle of layovers or connections.”

The additions enhance the flight opportunities as Provo gets closer to opening its new terminal this coming spring.

“On Nov. 5, 2019, we broke ground on our Provo Airport terminal expansion hopeful that ‘if we build it, they will come,'” Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi said. “Since that time we’ve announced eight new destinations with each new roundtrip destination bringing a potential $15 million infusion into our local, regional, and state economy.”

Allegiant, the only commercial airline currently flying out of Provo Airport, is now flying nonstop from Provo to Palm Springs, Houston and Austin.

“Now positioned as the second busiest airport in the state, Provo City is truly taking flight, but this economic momentum would not be possible without the collaborative partnership of federal, state, county and city governments,” Kaufusi added.

New service from Provo Airport (PVU) includes:

  • Austin, Texas via Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) – beginning Nov. 18, 2021 with fares as low as $39.
  • Houston, Texas via William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) – beginning Nov. 18, 2021 with fares as low as $39.
  • Palm Springs, California via Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) – beginning Nov. 19, 2021 with fares as low as $33.

These three new nonstop flights up the list of destinations out of Provo to eight. Other locations include Denver, Orange County, Phoenix/Mesa, Phoenix Sky Harbor and St. Petersburg/Clearwater/Tampa, Florida.

The new flights will operate twice weekly. Flight days, times and the lowest fares can be found on Allegiant’s website.

Seats and dates are limited and fares are not available on all flights. Flights for AUS and HOU must be purchased by Saturday for travel by Feb. 17, 2022. Flights for PSP must be purchased by Sunday for travel by Feb. 25, 2022.
