With forecasted temperatures in the 90s for the coming weeks, Lehi residents will now have one less way to cool down for the time being.

According to a post made on Lehi City’s Facebook page, the restrooms at the Ivory Ridge Splash Pad, a popular summer destination for children located at Ivory Ridge Park, have been significantly damaged after being vandalized late Thursday night, and the splash pad will be closed until further notice.

According to a statement issued by Lehi City, police received a phone call at 10:30 p.m. from a concerned resident who reported actively witnessing the vandalization of the restrooms at Ivory Ridge Park. The alleged vandals took off on foot when a police officer arrived, and the officer was unable to find them.

Damages to the restrooms included broken mirrors, porcelain sinks and soap dispensers, as well as towels and other debris shoved into toilets.

“Ivory Ridge Splash Pad was vandalized last night to the point where the bathrooms and other aspects of the park are no longer useable,” reads a post on the Lehi City Facebook page that was posted Friday. “The Ivory Ridge Splash Pad and bathrooms will remain closed until further notice while our Parks Department works on repairs. We appreciate your patience as we work to remedy the damages done to the park.”

It is unclear whether this incident will affect the Summer Splash Party, set to take place at Ivory Ridge Park on July 22.

“It is disappointing to both the residents and staff that we aren’t able to provide services due to such disregard for others and the park,” said Cameron Boyle, Lehi’s assistant city administrator. “We hope if anyone knows anything about the incident that they will come forward.”

As of Friday afternoon, no suspects had been named in the case. Anyone with information regarding the vandalism that occurred at the Ivory Ridge Splash Pad can report it by calling the Lehi City Police Department tip line at 385-201-1005.
