Semi driver dies in Spanish Fork Canyon rollover crash
The driver of a semitruck was killed Monday morning in a crash in Spanish Fork Canyon.
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred just before 7 a.m. when a semitruck towing a box trailer and traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 6 near mile marker 185 failed to negotiate the left-hand downhill curve for unknown reasons.
The truck then drove into the concrete barrier on the right side of the roadway, displacing the barrier during the impact. The truck then slid along the top of the barrier and rolled to the north side of the road, catching fire.
The driver, the only occupant in the vehicle, was killed during the incident and pronounced dead on the scene.
Westbound lanes of U.S. 6 were closed and traffic was alternated around the cash before crews reopened one lane westbound and both eastbound lanes at 11 a.m.
