The Orem Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is shown on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Despite a small fire and electrical problems during construction, the Orem Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be dedicated Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024 in two sessions.

On Tuesday, the First Presidency of the church released the dedication and open house dates for the temple along with the closure date for the Provo Utah Temple.

A public open house will begin Oct. 27 for the Orem Utah Temple and continue through Dec. 16, excluding Sundays and Thanksgiving Day. A media day will be held on Oct. 23, after which invited guests will tour the temple from Oct. 24-26.

The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all units in the Orem Utah Temple district. Additional details regarding the temple dedication will be announced at a future date.

As announced in October 2021, the Provo Utah Temple will be closed to accommodate reconstruction of the temple at the end of the day on Feb. 24, 2024. During the closure, members from the temple district are encouraged to attend other temples as their circumstances permit. Those desiring to receive their own ordinances should contact a temple in the surrounding area to make the necessary arrangements.
