Fire destroys a Spanish Fork home on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024.

A Spanish Fork home is a total loss after a fire consumed it just before midnight Thursday night. No people were harmed in the fire, but one dog is reported to have been killed.

According to a press release from Spanish Fork City, the fire is believed to have begun in the garage and then spread to the attic. The fire’s cause is unknown and is under investigation.

The home was located near 900 South and 1240 East in the southern area of Spanish Fork, though the release listed the incorrect address.

Fire crews were called to the residence by one of the occupants, who reported the bedroom lights “acting strange” and then discovered smoke in the garage.

Spanish Fork Fire & EMS responded to the scene and received assistance from Salem City Fire Department. The blaze was controlled within an hour, according to the press release.

Two people occupied the home and were able to exit safely. The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
